On the North Side of Chicago, Illinois is the neighborhood of Lakeview. Located along the shore of Lake Michigan to the east and bounded by Diversey Parkway on the south, Irving Park Road on the north, and Ravenswood Avenue on the west. Annexed to Chicago in 1889, Lakeview use to be a suburb and the place where the city residents use to getaway to in the summer. Consisting of bungalows, high-rises, and condos, today Lakeview is mostly an upscale neighborhood. In 2000, the population was 94,817, making Lakeview the second largest community in Chicago, containing Wrigleyville and Halsted Street. At Wrigleyville center is Wrigley Field, home to the Chicago Cubs. Here many of the low-rise brick apartment buildings have Wrigley Roofs, where there is seating for visitors and residents alike to view the baseball games. Wrigleyville has many restaurants, theatres and bars and is one of Chicago's centers for nightlife. From Irving Park to the north, Fremont to the east, Roscoe tot he south and Southport to the west, Wrigleyville is a great neighborhood to live, play, and watch baseball.

Northalsted, also known as Boystown, is also part of Lakeview. Boystown is considered to be the center of gay life in Chicago. Here in 1998, restoration of the North Halsted Street strip added lighted rainbow pylons. Halstead Street has more than 60 different gay and lesbian bars, restaurants, and nightclubs while Broadway offers specialty shops and restaurants. The median income of the residents of this area is $53,811 and the demographics of the population are: 79.5% White, 4.42% Black, 8.72% Hispanic, 5.42% Asian, and 1.95% other.
